A sense of the place
Why it's in the collection
Because a chef turned a stone farmhouse between Gordes and Roussillon into thirty rooms and suites, most with a terrace or a pool of their own, with a stone-lined pool over the valley and his own starred table at the heart of it – and the Mathieu family holds it to four-star standing.
- A stone farmhouse at Joucas, between Gordes and Roussillon; the house of chef-owner Xavier Mathieu, a Relais & Châteaux house.
- 30 rooms and suites, most with a private terrace or pool; a stone-lined pool over the valley, the villa Les Anges and the MICHELIN-starred La Table de Xavier Mathieu.
- One MICHELIN Key in the 2025 selection; holds four-star standing.

The neighborhood
The Luberon: Gordes & Bonnieux
The massif and the valley between the Monts de Vaucluse and the Durance hold four of the fourteen hotels. They take in Gordes on its rock with Sénanque Abbey in the fold below, the ocher cliffs of Roussillon, Joucas and Gargas above the vines, Bonnieux, Lacoste and Ménerbes along the northern face, Lourmarin and Lauris on the southern one, and the Friday market at Lourmarin.
- The Luberon valley, from the terrace.
- Roussillon and its ochers, a few minutes' drive.
- Gordes and Sénanque Abbey, across the hill.
