Where should I stay?
Deer Valley is the answer for skiing: Silver Lake sits mid-mountain with a village at the door, and Empire Pass rises above it, higher and quieter. Historic Main Street in Park City is a short drive from either. For a stay that is about the land rather than the lifts, the ranch in Wanship trades the slopes for 3,500 acres of creek, pasture and sky, 25 minutes out of town.
When is the best season for Park City?
Winter is the reason most people come — the lifts run from early December into April and the snow is dry and light. Summer is the local secret: the same slopes open to hikers and mountain bikers, evenings turn cool, and the ranch is at its greenest. Late spring and autumn are the quiet weeks, with the valley largely to yourself.
Are these hotels on the slopes?
The two Deer Valley lodges are. Montage sits on Empire Pass at the top of the resort, and Stein Eriksen Lodge is mid-mountain at Silver Lake, with a ski valet that stages your skis slopeside each morning. The Lodge at Blue Sky is a ranch rather than a ski lodge — 25 minutes from the lifts, with heli-skiing arranged from the property. Deer Valley remains a skiers-only mountain; snowboarders ride at Park City Mountain, a short drive away.
