On the east coast, at Belle Mare and Flacq, the resorts spread over long beaches and a private peninsula facing the sunrise; in the north, around Grand Baie and Pointe aux Piments, lie the marine park, the fishing villages and the sunset side of the island; and on the west and south coasts, at Flic en Flac and Le Morne, the villas face the calmest water and the mountain that guards the tip of the island. We list eight houses, each described at exactly the tier it holds, with a concierge behind every stay.

Good to know
Which are the five-star hotels in Mauritius?
Five. The five-star hotels we list in Mauritius are One&Only Le Saint Géran, on its private peninsula at Pointe de Flacq; The Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius, in gardens on Turtle Bay at Pointe aux Piments; Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury, on the beach at Grand Baie; LUX* Belle Mare, on the east coast; and LUX* Grand Baie, on the northern edge of Grand Baie. Three more houses hold four-star standing: Constance Prince Maurice; Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa; and LUX* Grand Gaube. Each has its own page, reached from the list above, with a concierge behind every stay.
Which part of Mauritius should I stay in?
The east coast at Belle Mare and Flacq for the longest beaches, the lagoons and the sunrise, an hour from the airport. The north around Grand Baie and Pointe aux Piments for the marine park, the restaurants and shops of Grand Baie, the sunsets and the shortest ride into Port Louis. The west and south at Flic en Flac and Le Morne for the calmest water, the villas and the mountain at the tip of the island.
When is the best time to visit Mauritius?
May to December is the dry, cooler season, with October to December and the Christmas weeks as the peak; the water is warm the year round. January to March is the cyclone season, hot and humid, with occasional closures when a storm passes. Many resorts ask for minimum stays at Christmas and New Year, so book those weeks early.
How do I get to Mauritius — and do I need a visa?
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is in the south-east of the island: about an hour by road from Belle Mare and Flacq, an hour and a quarter from Grand Baie and Pointe aux Piments, and an hour from Flic en Flac. Most visitors from Europe and the Americas enter without a visa for a short stay; the rule changes, so check it before you fly. The resorts run their own airport transfers.
How do I reserve a stay?
Search your dates on the hotel's page to see reference rates, then send the concierge a request. The concierge confirms exact rates and availability with you before anything is booked, and any payment and its timing are set out before you confirm.
