Four of the addresses here are hotels within hotels, with their own entrances, their own check-in and the casino kept at arm's length; the fifth has no casino at all. From the bronze towers of the north Strip to the glass of CityCenter, we kept only the collections where the service is as separate as the door. Five made the cut.

Where on the Strip should I stay?
The north Strip is Wynn and Encore, two bronze towers with a golf course behind them and the quieter end of the boulevard at the door. CityCenter, at the center, is the glass of ARIA and the Waldorf Astoria, with the shops and restaurants of the complex a few steps away. The south Strip is MGM Grand's ground, nearest the arena and the airport.
When is the best season for Las Vegas?
Spring and fall bring the mild desert days the pools were built for — March through May, then October into November. Summer is fiercely hot and lived indoors and poolside; winter is crisp, clear and calm, with New Year's Eve the loud exception.
Do I have to walk through a casino to reach my room?
Not if you choose well, and we did. The four suite collections have private arrivals and their own check-in, and the elevators at Wynn, Encore and SKYLOFTS are reserved for suite guests. The Waldorf Astoria is non-gaming and non-smoking from the ground up.
