Because this is the original Ritz-Carlton Boston, brought back in 2021 with more suites than any hotel in the city and a wood-burning fireplace in nearly half of them.
- Opened in 1927 as one of America's first Ritz-Carltons, in a Strickland, Blodget & Law building that keeps its marble columns and cobalt chandeliers; ran as Taj Boston from 2007 to 2019 and reopened as The Newbury in May 2021.
- 286 rooms including 90 suites – the most of any Boston hotel – nearly half with wood-burning fireplaces; the Corner House and Mansion Presidential Suites at the top.
- Restoration led by Jeffrey Beers International, with guestrooms by Alexandra Champalimaud.
- Contessa, the 17th-floor rooftop trattoria by Major Food Group's Mario Carbone, with Ken Fulk interiors under a retractable glass roof; The Street Bar and The Library downstairs, and the Tiffany & Co. flagship at street level.
