Georgetown · Washington, DC

A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection

Because it is the only five-star hotel in Washington, and has been for more than twenty years – the first Four Seasons in the United States, on the edge of Georgetown.

  • Opened in October 1979 at 2800 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill – Four Seasons' first hotel in the United States, and the only five-star hotel in Washington for more than twenty consecutive years.
  • Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, whose Bourbon Lounge reopened on August 15, 2026 after a full redesign.
  • A three-story spa and fitness center with an indoor lap pool, reopened on May 1, 2024 after a top-to-bottom transformation.
  • 222 rooms, with ten suites added in 2024; the Royal Suite – the largest in the city – has a private terrace over 29th Street, its own exercise room and a media room, and the art collection includes Warhol, Fernando Botero and Helen Frankenthaler.
