A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection
Because when the desert is the point rather than the town, this four-star resort in the Pinnacle Peak foothills – casitas with plunge pools, a spa that works with cactus gel and priority tee times at Troon North – is the one to choose, and we list it at exactly the tier it holds.
- Opened in 1999: 210 adobe-style casitas and suites – 188 casitas and 22 suites – on 40 acres in the Pinnacle Peak foothills of North Scottsdale, with every room renovated in 2018; fifteen room categories run up to a 3,000-square-foot three-bedroom suite, and 19 of the suites have private plunge pools.
- Talavera, the Spanish steakhouse under chef Emmanuel Urban; Proof cantina; Saguaro Blossom by the pool; Onyx Bar & Lounge; and Desert Orchard, an artisanal café opened in January 2026.
- A 12,000-square-foot spa whose signatures are the Nopal cactus-gel massage, the Turquoise Sage Renewal and sound therapy – the hotel and the spa both hold four-star standing, and we list them as exactly that.
- Priority tee times on Troon North Golf Club's two Tom Weiskopf-designed courses, Monument and Pinnacle.
