Because it is the grand dame of the Ojai Valley – four-star standing for the inn, with a spa and a dining room, Olivella, that hold five-star standing of their own – and thirty-five miles inland is the point, not the problem.

905 Country Club Road, Ojai – 220 acres bordering the Los Padres National Forest, thirty-five miles and forty-five minutes east of Santa Barbara, owned by Jim and Paula Crown since the mid-1980s.
The golf course was laid out by George C. Thomas Jr. in 1923 for the glass magnate Edward Libbey; the Spanish Colonial clubhouse and inn followed in 1934 to the design of Wallace Neff, and the resort reopened in 1988 after the Crowns' renovation.
