Montage Laguna Beach
The original Montage – Craftsman timber on thirty clifftop acres above Treasure Island beach.
Laguna Beach · Orange County Coast
A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection
Because the hotel and its spa both hold five-star standing on a bluff that Laguna's painters were working a century before the resort arrived, and the plein-air canvases inside make the case for the coast as well as the windows do.
- Opened in 2003 as the first Montage – a Craftsman-style resort on 30 clifftop acres beside Treasure Island Park in South Laguna, with roughly 250 rooms, suites and beach bungalows.
- A collection of California plein-air painting, William Wendt and Edgar Payne among the artists.
- Studio, the fine-dining room on a 50-foot bluff over the Pacific; The Mosaic Bar and Grille; and the Lobby Lounge, with live music every night.
- The Mosaic Pool with its tile sun, an adults-only saltwater Spa Pool, and Spa Montage Laguna Beach, which holds five-star standing of its own.
