In six destinations: Los Angeles & Beverly Hills, where the collection holds two — The Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard and Hotel Bel-Air up Stone Canyon Road; Rome, where Hotel Eden stands above Via Veneto on the slope toward the Villa Borghese; and Milan, where Hotel Principe di Savoia holds Piazza della Repubblica, ten minutes on foot from Porta Nuova; and Paris, where the collection holds two — Le Meurice on rue de Rivoli, facing the Tuileries, and Hôtel Plaza Athénée on Avenue Montaigne, among the couture houses of the Triangle d'Or; and London, where it holds two side by side on Park Lane, facing Hyde Park — The Dorchester and 45 Park Lane; and Dubai, where The Lana, Dorchester Collection stands on Marasi Bay, on the Dubai Water Canal in Business Bay, with Downtown and the Burj Khalifa across the water.

Each was admitted on its own merits, one hotel at a time, never by brand. The nine are houses with long memories kept in working order, and one new one: the Polo Lounge, the bungalows and the pink stucco of 1912 are still the working parts of The Beverly Hills Hotel; 103 keys on twelve wooded acres is the arithmetic of privacy at Hotel Bel-Air; Hotel Eden has looked over Rome from Via Veneto since 1889; and the Principe di Savoia has held Piazza della Repubblica since 1927, with a private pool in the Presidential Suite; Le Meurice has faced the Tuileries across rue de Rivoli since 1835, with Alain Ducasse's dining room and the Spa Valmont; the Plaza Athénée holds Avenue Montaigne itself, with Jean Imbert's dining room and the Dior Spa; The Dorchester has held Park Lane since 1931, renewed floor by floor through 2024 with Vesper Bar and The Grill; and 45 Park Lane keeps 46 rooms and Cut by Wolfgang Puck beside it; The Lana, opened in 2024 in a tower by Norman Foster's studio on Marasi Bay, is the collection's first house in the Middle East, with its restaurants and a rooftop pool over the canal. Six hold five-star standing; the Milan house, 45 Park Lane and The Lana are four-star addresses, labeled as such on their pages.

It depends on the destination. Rome is at its best in spring and autumn — April to June and September to October — and empties in the middle of August; Milan keeps the same months and fills by the calendar, with Fashion Week and the Salone del Mobile booked months ahead; Los Angeles keeps its own calendar year-round; Paris belongs to spring and early autumn — April to June and September to early October — with Fashion Week taking the rooms months ahead and the city emptying in August; London belongs to May, June and September and stays full through Christmas, with Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour taking the rooms of Mayfair months ahead; Dubai runs on its winter, from about October to April, with the New Year's Eve fireworks at the Burj Khalifa, the Shopping Festival in January and the Dubai World Cup at Meydan at the end of March taking the rooms first, and from June to September the heat is the fact of the day, when the hotels are at their quietest.
