Five Airelles hotels are in the Stanza collection, in four destinations. Three hold five-star standing: thirteen rooms in the seventeenth-century Grand Contrôle, inside the grounds of the Palace of Versailles; Les Airelles, the collection's first house, an Austro-Hungarian castle on the Jardin Alpin slope of Courchevel 1850; and a sixteenth-century bastide at the top of Gordes, above the Luberon valley. Two are four-star addresses, labeled as such: a château above Saint-Tropez and a house at the foot of the Face de Bellevarde in Val d'Isère. Each hotel page shows reference rates for your dates, and the concierge confirms exact rates and availability before anything is booked.

Good to know

Where are the Airelles houses of the collection, from Versailles to Saint-Tropez?

In four destinations, all in France. Paris: inside the grounds of the Château de Versailles, 20 km south-west of the city, with the Orangerie and the Parterre du Midi outside the door. Courchevel & the French Alps, which has two: Courchevel 1850, on the Jardin Alpin slope, and Val d'Isère, up the Tarentaise, at the foot of the Face de Bellevarde. Provence & the Luberon: at the top of the hilltop village of Gordes, with Sénanque Abbey in the fold below. French Riviera & Monaco: above Saint-Tropez.

Which Airelles houses here stand in historic buildings, and where did the collection begin?

Two stand in historic buildings: the Grand Contrôle at Versailles, where the finances of the kingdom were kept, its rooms restored to the reign of Louis XIV, with Alain Ducasse's restaurant and private tours of the château and the Trianons after the gates close; and the sixteenth-century bastide at Gordes, with 34 rooms, six suites and the Airelles Spa by Guerlain, inspired by Sénanque Abbey. The collection began in the mountains: Les Airelles in Courchevel is its first house, and Val d'Isère, its sister, the second.

Which Airelles houses keep a season, and when is each at its best?

Four of the five. Les Airelles and the house in Val d'Isère open for the winter only — the resorts open in December and close in April, Val d'Isère usually a little earlier and later — and the Christmas weeks and the February school vacations are the fullest; Airelles Gordes keeps a seasonal calendar, and Provence does best from April to June and in September and October, with the lavender at Sénanque from late June to the middle of July; the Château de la Messardière is seasonal too, and May, June and September are the weeks to aim for on the Riviera. At Versailles, April to June and September to early October bring the mild days. The concierge confirms each house's opening dates for your stay.
