A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection

Because the grande dame of 1896 on the Amstel at the Muntplein keeps 107 rooms, 55 of them suites, and a five-bedroom penthouse, still in independent hands – and it holds five-star standing here.

  • On the Amstel at the Muntplein since 1896, where the river meets the Flower Market and the Rokin; independent.
  • 107 rooms, 55 of them suites, and a penthouse of five bedrooms.
  • Three MICHELIN Keys in the 2025 selection – the only Three-Key hotel in the Netherlands – on which it holds five-star standing here.

The neighborhood

First light over Canal Ring & Centrum

Canal Ring & Centrum

The three great canals and the old center at their core – home to five of the six hotels. The Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht were dug in the 17th century around the Singel and have been a World Heritage site since 2010. At the core stand Dam Square and the Royal Palace, with the Flower Market on the Singel; the Nine Streets and the Jordaan lie to the west, Rembrandtplein and the Amstel to the south-east.

  • The Muntplein and the Flower Market on the Singel, at the door.
  • Rembrandtplein and the Amstel, a few minutes' walk.
  • Dam Square, up the Rokin to the north.
