A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection

Because the sail-shaped tower has stood on its own island 280 meters off Jumeirah Beach since December 1999, every one of its 199 rooms a suite – and Jumeirah holds it to five-star standing.

  • Opened in December 1999 on an artificial island 280 meters off Jumeirah Beach, joined to the shore by its own causeway; a Jumeirah hotel.
  • An all-suite tower of 199 suites, 321 meters tall, in the shape of a sail.
  • Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star 2026 for the hotel; holds five-star standing.

The neighborhood

Jumeirah Beach, Madinat & Jumeira Bay

The Jumeirah shore between the Burj Al Arab and the older city, with seven of the thirty-nine hotels. The sail stands on its island, and Madinat Jumeirah, with its souk and canals, lies across the water. The shore also takes in Wild Wadi, the villas and cafés along Jumeirah Beach Road, Kite Beach and the seahorse-shaped island of Jumeira Bay.

  • Wild Wadi Waterpark and the Jumeirah shore, at the landward end of the causeway.
  • Madinat Jumeirah and its souk, across the water.
  • Mall of the Emirates, a short drive inland.
“Jumeirah's sail on its own island off Jumeirah Beach, all suites since December 1999 – 199 of them, in a tower 321 meters tall.”
