Ten One&Only hotels are in the Stanza collection, in seven destinations. Two were the first grand resorts of their coasts — Palmilla, open since 1956 on its point in Los Cabos, and Le Saint Géran, the original resort of Mauritius, on its peninsula at Pointe de Flacq — and the others range from treehouse and clifftop villas in a jungle preserve at Mandarina and an island of twelve beaches in North Malé Atoll to urban resorts on Cape Town's V&A Waterfront and in Dubai's One Za'abeel towers. Five hold five-star standing; five are four-star addresses, labeled as such, three of Dubai's four among them. Where are the One&Only houses of the collection, and why does Dubai have four?
In seven destinations: Los Cabos; Punta Mita & Riviera Nayarit, at Mandarina; the Maldives; Mauritius; Cape Town & the Winelands; Athens & the Athenian Riviera; and Dubai, which has four. Two of Dubai's are wings of the same resort on the Al Sufouh beach — the Residence & Spa, with fifty keys and a spa of its own, and the Arabian Court — and share its beach, gardens and restaurants; One&Only The Palm, at the tip of the west crescent, is reached by boat from Royal Mirage; and One Za'abeel, opened in 2024, is an urban resort in two towers joined by The Link.
Which One&Only houses here were the first grand resorts of their coasts?
Two: One&Only Palmilla, open since 1956 on the Palmilla point — the original grand resort of Los Cabos, and the beginning of the Tourist Corridor's reputation — above one of the Corridor's rare swimmable coves; and One&Only Le Saint Géran, the original resort of Mauritius, on a private peninsula at Pointe de Flacq with a mile of white sand between ocean and lagoon. Two others opened in 2024: One Za'abeel in Dubai and Aesthesis, in the pine grove of the old Asteria beach club on the Glyfada shore.
When are the One&Only resorts of the collection at their best?
Palmilla and Mandarina, on Mexico's Pacific coast, from November into spring, with the humpback whales from about December; Reethi Rah in the Maldives' dry season, from November to April; Le Saint Géran in the dry, cooler months of Mauritius, from May to December; the Dubai houses in the winter, from late October to April; Cape Town in the austral summer, from November to March; and Aesthesis from April to June and in September and October, with the Riviera beaches open from May.
