A sense of the place
Why it's in the collection
Because a Dominican convent of the fourteenth century became a grand hotel in the nineteenth and Four Seasons runs it now – cloisters, terraces and 111 rooms above the Ionian Sea with Etna behind – and the house holds five-star standing, the only one on the island distinguished at the Guide's highest level.
- A fourteenth-century Dominican convent on Piazza San Domenico, at the western end of Corso Umberto, turned grand hotel in the nineteenth century; run by Four Seasons since its reopening.
- 111 rooms and suites in the convent and the grand hotel wing, on terraces above the Ionian Sea with Etna behind; the cloisters, the gardens and the pool on the edge of the drop.
- Three MICHELIN Keys in the 2025 selection – the only hotel in Sicily at that level; holds five-star standing.
