Why it's in the collection

Because the idea behind it — that a custom-built palace on the shore of Lake Pichola can be as good as or better than the real thing — is borne out by its execution: built by local craftsmen in a more or less authentic Mewari style, it gleams in the sunlight, spotless and meticulously perfect, an idealized India and impossibly luxurious with it.
