A sense of the place

Morning over Rive Droite & Quai du Mont-Blanc

Why it's in the collection

Because Mandarin Oriental chose the river over the lake – a house on the Quai Turrettini, on the Rhône a few minutes from the Old Town – and holds it to five-star standing.

  • On the Quai Turrettini, on the right bank of the Rhône below the Île Rousseau; a Mandarin Oriental hotel.
  • Rooms over the river, the Saint-Gervais quarter behind and the Old Town a few minutes away across the bridges.
  • Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star 2026 for the hotel; holds five-star standing.

Rive Droite & Quai du Mont-Blanc

The right bank from the Pont du Mont-Blanc to the Pâquis, on the lake and the Rhône – home to all seven hotels. The Quai du Mont-Blanc faces the harbor and the Jet d'Eau, with the Brunswick Monument in its garden; the Bains des Pâquis stand on their jetty, and the Quai Wilson runs on to the Parc Mon Repos. Where the Rhône leaves the lake, the Quai des Bergues and the Quai Turrettini run along the river, with Cornavin station a ten-minute walk inland.

  • The Rhône and its bridges to the Old Town, at the door.
  • Cornavin station and the Saint-Gervais quarter, a few minutes' walk.
  • The Quai des Bergues and the harbor, a short walk upstream.
