Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo
Four Seasons · Papagayo & Guanacaste · Costa Rica
A sense of the place
Why it's in the collection
Because the idea of a full luxury resort in a country of little jungle camps is less strange than it sounds when the camps rarely come with a golf course, and this one gives up nothing in location — a hilltop over the deep blue Pacific with beaches on both sides — while keeping the details that mark an international house: the restaurants, the lobby bar, the oversized pools and the sprawling spa.
- On a hilltop of the Papagayo peninsula between two beaches; Four Seasons house.
- Rooms, suites and villas over the Pacific; the Arnold Palmer course, certified by Audubon; several restaurants; a series of pools; the indoor-outdoor spa; the children's center.
- Designed by a local architect to sit in the landscape: rose-colored stucco, thatched pavilions open to the sea breeze, bamboo, rattan, stone and regional wood inside.
- Two MICHELIN Keys in the 2025 selection; holds four-star standing.
The neighborhood
Papagayo & Guanacaste
The Pacific north-west — the Papagayo peninsula's clifftop resorts and the beaches of Guanacaste. The zone also takes in Guanacaste's dry-forest hills, the car-free town of Las Catalinas, the river gorges near Bagaces and the surf at Tamarindo and Nosara; Liberia airport is under an hour away.
- Two beaches and the Gulf of Papagayo, below the hill.
- The Papagayo marina and Playas del Coco, twenty minutes.
- Liberia airport, about forty-five minutes.
