Two Soho House & Co hotels are in the Stanza collection; both are four-star addresses, labeled as such. They span two destinations, one in each: London and Doha — both under The Ned, the hotel and members' club the group runs alongside its houses. Soho House & Co began with the first Soho House, opened by Nick Jones in 1995 on Greek Street in Soho, London; The Ned came in 2017, in Lutyens' Midland Bank of 1924 on Poultry, in the City. In London it keeps The Ned itself — nine restaurants on the old banking floor, a pool on the roof and a bar in the vault, across the road from the Bank of England. In Doha it keeps The Ned Doha, in the brutalist former Ministry of Interior on the Corniche, in the heart of the city, with seven restaurants and a rooftop pool over the bay. Both are four-star addresses, and we list them at exactly that tier. Each page carries our editorial notes, and the concierge confirms exact rates and availability before anything is booked.

Good to know

Where does Stanza list Soho House & Co hotels?

In two destinations, one hotel in each: London, where The Ned occupies Lutyens' Midland Bank building of 1924 on Poultry, in the City, with the Bank of England and the Royal Exchange across the road, St Paul's Cathedral a few minutes' walk west and the Thames and the Millennium Bridge a short walk south; and Doha, where The Ned Doha occupies the former Ministry of Interior on the Corniche, with the Museum of Islamic Art and its park a short walk along the Corniche, Souq Waqif a short walk away and Msheireb Downtown a few minutes' walk.

What distinguishes the Soho House & Co hotels in the collection?

Each was admitted on its own merits, one hotel at a time, never by brand. What the two share is The Ned's formula: a public building of another era turned hotel and members' club, with the restaurants on the main floor and the pool on the roof. In London, Lutyens' Midland Bank, with nine restaurants on the old banking floor and a bar in the vault; in Doha, the former Ministry of Interior, a brutalist building on the Corniche, with seven restaurants and the pool over the bay. The Ned and The Ned Doha both hold four-star standing, and we list them at exactly that tier.

When is the best time to stay at a Soho House & Co hotel?

It depends on the destination. London belongs to late spring and early autumn — May, June and September — with the Chelsea Flower Show in late May, Trooping the Colour in June and Wimbledon at the turn of July taking the rooms months ahead; July and August are the warmest and busiest months, the weeks before Christmas the fullest, and January and February the quietest, when the City empties on weekends. Doha belongs to the winter, from October to April — days in the twenties and evenings cool enough for a terrace on the Corniche — with National Day on 18 December and its fireworks along the Corniche, the Grand Prix at Lusail in the last quarter of the year and the tennis in February taking the rooms first; December and January can bring a cool wind and the odd shower, from June to September the heat passes forty degrees with a damp air off the Gulf and the hotels are at their quietest, and May and October are the shoulders. Each destination page carries its note on the months, and the concierge advises on dates for a specific hotel.
