Three hold five-star standing: Phulay Bay, the first Reserve, facing the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay from Krabi; Mandapa, among working rice terraces on the Ayung river below Ubud; and Zadún, all-suite casitas set into the dunes at Puerto Los Cabos. One is a four-star address, labeled as such: Nekajui, a lodge on a clifftop of the Papagayo peninsula, with villas and canvas treetop tents over the Pacific. In the Americas: Los Cabos, at Puerto Los Cabos on the east side of San José del Cabo, with the marina around the resort, and Costa Rica, on a clifftop of the Papagayo peninsula in Guanacaste, about forty-five minutes from Liberia airport. In Asia: Bali, on the Ayung river in the valley of Kedewatan, fifteen minutes from the center of Ubud, and Phuket & Krabi, on a quiet bay in Krabi, thirty minutes from Krabi International Airport and ten from Tubkaek beach.

Phulay Bay is the first Reserve, with villas and pavilions whose private pools face the karsts across the water, a beach on the bay and the Reserve spa; Mandapa sets its suites and pool villas among working rice terraces, where the farmers and their buffalo still pass, with the Mandapa Spa on the riverbank; Zadún is all-suite, its casitas set into the dunes above the beach; and at Nekajui some of the villas and treetop tents are reached by a wooden suspension bridge across a ravine, and a funicular runs down the hillside to the beach club.

Zadún from November through May, with the humpback whales in the water from about December through April; Nekajui in Guanacaste's dry season, from December to April — or from May to November, the green season, with clear mornings and afternoon rain; Mandapa in Bali's dry season, from April to October; and Phulay Bay from November to April, while in the monsoon months Phang Nga Bay stays more sheltered than the west-coast beaches.
