The founding house, the grand dame of 1887 on Singapore's Beach Road, is an all-suite National Monument around its colonial courtyards; the others include the Old War Office on Whitehall, a hotel since 2023, Philippe Starck's Le Royal Monceau off the Étoile, a house in the crescent of Katara Towers in Doha, a private island in Udai Sagar Lake reached by boat and a modern palace of pink stone beyond Jaipur's walls. Four hold five-star standing; four are four-star addresses, labeled as such. Raffles Hotel Singapore is the founding house: opened in 1887 on Beach Road, an all-suite National Monument of 115 suites around its courtyards, reopened in 2019 after a two-year restoration, with the Long Bar and the Raffles Spa. Raffles Udaipur, on its island in Udai Sagar Lake, is the brand's first house in India. In London, Raffles opened in 2023 inside the Old War Office on Whitehall, with nine restaurants and bars and a Guerlain spa.
When are the Raffles houses at their best?
Rajasthan's season runs from October to March, with dry days and cool nights, and the monsoon turns the Aravalli hills green and fills the lakes from July to September; Bali is dry from April to October; Doha's winter runs from October to April; Singapore is warm all year and driest from February to April.
