Three hold five-star standing: Le Bristol, opened in 1925 on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré; the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, a villa of 1870 at the tip of Cap d'Antibes; and Eden Rock, the first hotel on St. Barths, on the rock in the middle of Baie de Saint-Jean. The oldest is the villa of 1870 that became the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, with the Eden-Roc pavilion on the shore and a saltwater pool blasted into the rock; Le Bristol opened in 1925 and keeps a pool on its roof; Eden Rock, opened in the 1950s, was the island's first hotel; The Lanesborough occupies a Regency building and gives every room a butler; and Château Saint-Martin stands on the site of a Templar commandery, in a park of olive groves. Jean-Georges Vongerichten's restaurants are in two of the six: Sand Bar and Rémy at Eden Rock, and Tangará Jean-Georges at Palácio Tangará, his first table in South America.
Which Oetker Collection houses keep a season, and when are the others at their best?
Three keep one. Eden Rock closes each year from mid-August to mid-October, and the St. Barths season runs from December through April; on the Riviera, the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and Château Saint-Martin are seasonal, the concierge confirms their opening dates for your stay, and May, June and September are the weeks to aim for. Le Bristol is at its best from April to June and from September to early October; The Lanesborough in late spring and in September; and Palácio Tangará the year round, with a dry, mild winter from June to August and SP-Arte in April.
