In two destinations, one hotel in each. In Dubai, Al Habtoor Palace, Dubai, the flagship of Al Habtoor City on the Dubai Water Canal in Business Bay, on Sheikh Zayed Road, with La Perle by Dragone next door and Downtown Dubai a short drive away. In Kyoto, ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts at the foot of the Takagamine hills in the north of the city, above Kinkaku-ji, about thirty minutes by car from the center and Nijo Castle.

Each was admitted on its own merits, one hotel at a time, never by brand. The two could not be more different, which is the point of a collection kept under separate names: in Dubai, a palace-style house with the pools and restaurants of Al Habtoor City around it and the resident show next door; in Kyoto, a resort in the woods of the northern hills with a thermal pool fed by natural hot springs and rooms that open onto the Tenjin river.
When is the best time to stay at an LXR Hotels & Resorts house?
It depends on the destination. Dubai is at its best from November to March, when the days are warm and the evenings cool, and the canal walkway is the evening's stroll; the summer is for the indoor life of the city. Kyoto belongs to the cherry blossom from late March into mid April and the autumn leaves from mid November into early December, when the northern hills color first; rooms sell out months ahead, and May, June and the winter are the quiet seasons.
