Four Kempinski hotels are in the Stanza collection; one holds five-star standing. They span four destinations: Istanbul, Dubai, Bangkok and the Bavarian Alps. Kempinski began in Berlin in 1897 and runs its hotels today from Geneva. In Istanbul it has the Çırağan Palace, the palace of Sultan Abdülaziz on the Bosphorus, which holds five-star standing; in Dubai, the alpine-chalet house attached to Mall of the Emirates and Ski Dubai; in Bangkok, the resort garden of saltwater pools behind Siam Paragon; and on the Obersalzberg above Berchtesgaden, the mountain house with the two-star PUR and Two MICHELIN Keys in the 2025 selection. The three last are four-star addresses, labeled as such.

Each was admitted on its own merits, one hotel at a time, never by brand, and the four could not be more different: the palace the Balyan family built for Sultan Abdülaziz in the 1860s, with its garden on the water; a chalet house that looks into indoor snow from the desert; a garden of three saltwater pools in the middle of Bangkok's malls; and a modern mountain house with penthouse duplex suites and a two-MICHELIN-star table on the Obersalzberg. When is the best time to stay at a Kempinski hotel?
It depends on the destination. Istanbul belongs to April to June and September to November, with mild days on the Bosphorus; Dubai is at its best from November to March; Bangkok is driest from November to February; Berchtesgaden has two seasons, ski from December to March and summer from May to October, and the house runs all year. Each destination page carries its own season note, and the concierge can advise on dates.
