A sense of the place

Why it's in the collection

Because Patricia Urquiola turned a mid-century bank on Passeig de Gràcia into a hotel with a pool on the roof and a spa of its own – and Mandarin Oriental holds it to five-star standing.

  • A mid-century bank on Passeig de Gràcia, converted by Patricia Urquiola; a Mandarin Oriental hotel.
  • A pool on the roof and a spa; Two MICHELIN Keys in the 2025 selection.
  • Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star 2026 for the hotel; holds five-star standing.

Passeig de Gràcia & Eixample

Cerdà's grid and Passeig de Gràcia, the avenue that runs through it – home to three of the five hotels. The grid spreads north of Plaça de Catalunya; Casa Batlló and La Pedrera stand among the shops of Passeig de Gràcia, with the cafés of Rambla de Catalunya a street over. Gran Via crosses at the foot of the avenue, and the Sagrada Família lies further into the grid to the east.

  • Casa Batlló, almost opposite, across the avenue.
  • La Pedrera, a few minutes up Passeig de Gràcia.
  • Plaça de Catalunya and the Rambla, a short walk down.
